Problem: Overheating Caterpillar 432f2 Backhoe
A customer contacted us after a failed fan belt on a Caterpillar 432F2 Backhoe, caused the engine to overheat. The customer also reported that the transmission was not cycling through its gear range while travelling, which was leading to a transmission overheat event.
Repairs: We replaced the failed fan belt and investigated the transmission fault. During inspection, we identified a leaking transmission suction hose, which appeared to have been impacted during operation. We also discovered the transmission speed sensor had been snapped off. This damage prevented the onboard ECM from accurately reading engine and transmission speed data, resulting in the transmission being unable to cycle through its gear range while operating.
Outcome: Faults were identified and rectified, restoring correct operation and preventing further overheating events.
